Spatially Multiplexed Transmission in Multicore Fibers: Role of Core Coupling on System Performance

Abstract

We show through numerical simulations that multicore fibers with strong linear coupling among cores can largely mitigate nonlinear impairments and outperform multicore fibers with uncoupled cores.
