Photonic Network Analog of a Topological Insulator

Abstract

A photonic network, such as a periodic lattice of coupled ring resonators, can act as a photonic topological insulator. Using transfer-matrix and FDTD calculations, we demonstrate the existence and properties of the topologically-protected edge states.
