Measuring Single-cell Blood Velocity in the Living Eye: Adaptive Optics Reveals Micro- and Macrovascular Function

Abstract

We use adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (AOSLO) to image the motion of single blood cells in the retinal circulation. Automated software provides a new way to extract velocity information from thousands of capillaries.
