Selective Focusing of Laser Pulses by Diffraction-Induced Pulse Splitting in Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Linear focusing and defocusing of femtosecond light pulses in one-dimensional photonic crystals was numerically simulated and experimentally observed. The possibility to produce pairs of pulses and to focus or defocus each pulse selectively has shown.
