Polarization Imaging in the Retina of a Dog Model of Alzheimer's Disease Enables Discrimination of Amyloid Deposits

Abstract

Beagle dogs suffer from a naturally occurring cognitive dysfunction syndrome, with symptoms and brain pathology similar to Alzheimer’s disease. We show that polarization imaging correctly classifies 95% of amyloid deposits from surrounding retina in diseased dogs.
