A Graphene-Integrated 3D Microfiber Coil For All-Optical Signal Processing

Abstract

Based on the wrap-on-a-rod technique, we experimentally demonstrated an in-line all-optical fiber modulator by wrapping a microfiber on a rod pretreated with a graphene sheet. Owing to its unique spring-like geometry, an ultra-long graphene-light interaction length can be achieved. A modulation depth of 7.5 dB and 2.5 dB were demonstrated for two non-degenerate polarization states.
