Programmable optical transport routing of plasmonic nanoparticles

We report an innovative laser tool that allows confining a large number of plasmonic nanoparticles and transporting them along arbitrary two-dimensional trajectories. We experimentally demonstrate that the optical transport of such nanoparticles can be programmed on demand to avoid or impact on objects present in the host environment, which is similar to robotic motion planning.
