Experimental demonstration of poling-free and non-resonant second-harmonic generation in single-mode integrated waveguides

Abstract

Second-harmonic generation is demonstrated for the first time in a single-mode, thin-film lithium niobate waveguide without periodic poling or resonant enhancement. This is achieved by a long-period width variation, deemed mode-shape modulation.
