Rapid detection of HIV1-p24 antigen in human blood plasma using Raman spectroscopy

Abstract

This work reports on the use of Raman spectroscopy together with principal component analysis (PCA) in detecting the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) type 1 p24 antigen in human blood plasma. PCA distinguished Raman spectroscopic data patterns of plasma samples containing HIV1-p24 antigens from those without. The characteristic HIV1-p24 antigens Raman spectrum displayed broad bands centered at waveshifts 798, 1208, 1302 and 1526 cm−1 upon excitation with light of wavelength centered at 785 nm similar to those reported elsewhere.
