Polarization Effects in Optical Fibers For Distributed Sensing

Abstract

We show that the analysis of the state of polarization of Rayleigh backscattered light may be useful in developing distributed polarization sensitive optical fiber sensors able to measure mechanical parameters, electric current and magnetic field.
