Atom-photon interface using the higher order modes of an ultrathin optical fiber

Abstract

We create an atom-photon interface using the higher order modes (HOM) of an ultrathin optical fiber. We explore interactions between HOMs and a cold atomic ensemble, with aim to transfer and store orbital angular momentum.
