Self-trapping of light through red blood cell suspensions

We observe self-trapping and deep penetration of a laser beam in human red blood cell (RBC) suspensions under isotonic, hypotonic, and hypertonic conditions, in spite of the intrinsic absorption and scattering loss due to RBCs.
