Perpendicular Photo-alignment of Nanoparticle Lines via Plasmon-induced Lorentz Forces

Abstract

We demonstrate light-induced formations of gold nanoparticle chains aligned perpendicular to the illuminating polarization. The inclusion of plasmon-induced Lorentz force in stochastic Lagrangian simulations predicts the regimes for self-assembly.
