Abstract

We experimentally determine the metal-induced-gap-state (MIGS) density at Au/Al2O3 interfaces by applying a sensitive second harmonic generation (SHG) technique. We measure SHG efficiencies at these interfaces for Al2O3 films of nanometer thickness.
