Revealing the Number of Single Photons in Real Time

Abstract

We report a reconfigurable Field-Programmable Gate Array processor for transforming signals from transition-edge sensors into photon-number-resolving measurements, providing on-the-fly data analysis with photon resolution, up to 15 photons at 820 nm.
