Laser-induced polarization-dependent birefringence in sodium borate glasses

Abstract

The possibility of femtosecond laser-induced polarization-dependent birefringence was demonstrated for the first time in the bulk of sodium-borate glass. The dependence of retardance of laser-induced birefringence on alkali content was studied.
