Benchmarking an Ultra-lightweight Deep Learning Architecture for Laser-based Underwater Communication

Abstract

We communicate underwater via laser by transmitting an alphabet of images. A light-weight deep neural network decodes the distorted images with ~99% accuracy, in a fraction of the time used by larger deep networks.
