Generalized Malus’ Law and Spatial Coherence Changes by Linear, Azimuthal and Radial Polarizers

Abstract

We study the transmission of partially polarized, partially coherent beams through linear, azimuthal and radial polarizers. A generalization of Malus’ law is derived, as are formulas for the transformation of spatial coherence properties.
