Abstract
The system integration of ultra precisely diamond turned freeform aluminum metal mirrors is a very sophisticated task. One approach for simplification of this task is to manufacture two (or more) mirrors in nearly the same plane in the optical system on a common substrate. The successfulness of this approach depends heavily on the optical and mechanical boundary conditions. A first step is to mathematically transform the mirror surfaces into another coordinate system to fulfill or relax the manufacturing constraints. After this the generation of an appropriate toolpath in an interrupted geometry is necessary for the ultra precise fabrication. The presented article describes an algorithm for these two main tasks which simplifies the fabrication drastically.
