A simplified system integration approach for brittle material freeform optics

Abstract

A novel design approach for a simplified integration of complex shaped mirrors and lenses made out of a brittle material is presented. It is based on a sub-sequent ultra-precise machining of optical and mechanical interfaces assembled to the brittle substrate.
