Abstract

Grating lenses will have wide applications in optical communication and optical information processing. Utilizing their focusing, imaging and Fourier transforming functions, they are applied, for example, to couplers for fiber optics1,2), optical heads in optical disk systems3), X-ray imaging elements4) and Fourier transforming lenses for optical processors5). Applications to waveguide devices6-8) are also reported.
