Ultrahigh Peak Power Lasers Present and Future

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have seen over the past few years an explosion in laser peak power. Today the lasers have peak power of TW and average power of few watts with focused intensity well in the exawatt/cm2 range. We will describe the next generation of CPA lasers that will take us into the yottawatt/cm2 range with kW average power.
