Abstract
Above-threshold ionization spectra for laser intensities exceeding about 1014 W/cm2 exhibit two different regimes: the part of the spectrum at lower energies is due to electrons that do not undergo significant interaction with the ionic core after they have been set free; in contrast energies above a certain limit are predominantly reached by a rescattering process off the ionic core, see e.g. the reviews1,2.
