Argon and krypton droplet plasma formation and disassembly in an intense laser field

Abstract

We have measured the disassembly time of micron-sized Ar and Kr droplets irradiated by 100-ps laser pulses in a pump-probe scheme. This time varies strongly with droplet size and is as long as several nanoseconds.
