Protein Crystal Structure Determination and Radiation Damage at a dose of 3 GGy using a Free-Electron Laser

Abstract

Radiation damage induced by 2 keV femtosecond X-ray pulses was studied in protein microcrystals as a function of pulse length and fluence. Dose and dose rate dependent effects were observed, suggesting the occurrence of “hotspots” for damage.
