New Effects in Optical Tunneling: From Spin-Polarization to Chiral Discrimination

Abstract

We discuss new effects associated with tunnel ionization induced by an intense low-frequency laser field, starting with atoms and moving on to chiral molecules: electron spin polarization, correlation assisted tunneling and associated delays, chiral discrimination.
