Energy Absorption in Femtosecond Filamentation

Abstract

Energy deposition into air by laser filaments is spatially resolved along the propagation path. Single filaments formed under varied conditions were studied using longitudinal interferometry, sonographic probing, and photodiode energy-loss detection.
