New Generation Terahertz Pulse Sources Utilizing Volume Phase Holographic Gratings

Abstract

Volume phase holographic gratings can allow the implementation of terahertz pulse sources where imaging optics and the microstructuring of a nonlinear material surface are not required. These new sources can also outperform conventional terahertz based on lithium niobate in conversion efficiency and beam uniformity.
