Quantum Illumination: Enhanced Background-Limited Target Detection by Means of Entanglement

Abstract

Use of an entangled-state transmitter is shown to provide a significant performance advantage—in comparison to a coherent-state transmitter—in background-limited target detection, even though the received state is not entangled.
