Abstract
We discuss schemes for heralded noiseless amplifiers as a countermeasure to lossy channels. In the context of device-independent quantum key distribution (DIQKD), this removes the channel transmittivity parameter from the computation of Bell inequality violations, thus allowing one to overcome the detection loophole with realistic device parameters.
