Abstract

High performances electrooptically controlled optical directional couplers have already been realized in several laboratories using electrooptical crystals like LiTaO3 or LiNbO3 and Niobium or Titanium in diffusion to create the waveguides (1, 2, 3, 4). In parallel we have developped in our laboratory a technique called "visualization by fluorescence" to display the guided energy in optical waveguides with low as well as high refractive indices.
