An Integrated-Optics Sub-Picosecond Gate

Abstract

This paper describes a novel gate that opens and closes in less than 0.1 psec and that may be built with present-day integrated optics technology. For reasons that will become evident later we propose to call this device a velocity-matched gate (VMG).
