Abstract

The spectral characteristics of semiconductor lasers are important for optical transmitters and fiber optic sensor systems. Both line narrowing and line broadening of laser diodes due to optical feedback into the laser cavity have been investigated recently.1-4 Here we report the dependency of the linewidth and wavelength stability on the amount of radiation fed back into the laser cavity.
