Abstract
Large fast-relaxing intensity-dependent refractive-index changes would be of use for all-optical waveguide signal processing devices. In III–V compounds, many different physical processes compete to produce light-induced index changes with different strengths and response times in different wavelength ranges. In this work, waveguide Fabry-Perot interferometer structures of un-doped and lightly doped material were used to measure small index changes produced by laser excitation below the absorption edge.
