Abstract

Applications of integrated optic components have primarily been focused toward telecommunications and sensors. A third, growing area, and the subject of this talk, is their use in instrumentation for performing measurements on high speed optical systems and components. In the frequency domain, this would include bandwidths in the tens of Gigahertz, while in the time domain, it covers pulse widths of picoseconds and tens of picoseconds.
