Abstract

Use of the gradient-index lens (GRIN lens) in an optical system is a very useful means to reduce the number of lens elements or to improve optical performance. Several design examples using the GRIN lens have been reported so far.1),2) However, most of them are limited to lenses with fixed optical focal length.
