Abstract

Use of the gradient-index lens (GRIN lens) in an optical system is a very useful means to reduce the number of lens elements or to improve optical performance. Several design examples using the GRIN lens have been reported so far.^1),2) However, most of them are limited to lenses with fixed optical focal length.
