Corrections of Aberrations Using HOE's in UV and Visible Imaging Systems

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An approach was developed to correct the chromatic aberrations of a holographic optical element (HOE). The effective use of different diffraction orders of two properly constructed HOE's makes it possible to obtain dispersion-free imaging for at least two arbitrary wavelengths. This kind of doublets behave the same as one HOE at each design wavelength. For example, one point can be imaged perfectly into its conjugate without the limitation of virtual imaging known in the past for achromatic doublets. Experimental results are presented.
