Pulse propagation in molecules

Abstract

The propagation of infrared laser pulses through a molecular medium is studied theoretically. It was shown previously that the classical time dynamics of single molecule MPE is chaotic leading to a fluence-dependent excitation.1 Therefore, it is important to study the effect of the chaotic molecular dynamics back on the laser pulse envelope and to compare the results with experiment. The primary emphasis of this work is to understand the spatiotemporal coherence of the laser pulse envelope.
