Photofragment spectroscopy with VUV lasers: product correlations and alignment

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The experimental technique that provides the most detail about photofragmentation dynamics is pump-and-probe photofragment spectroscopy, in which laser spectroscopy is used to detect the products of laser photolysis. One of the major limitations of this technique is the development of state-sensitive laser detection for the atomic and diatomic products of small molecule photolysis. By using tunable vacuum ultraviolet generated by frequency mixing, the number of photofragment products that can be detected by laser spectroscopy is greatly expanded.
