Development of a Software for Optical Design

Abstract

A personal computer aided software for optical design: SOD88, which is the most prevalent software in optical design of China, is described in the paper. The main functions, mathematical models and distinguishing features of most programs in the software are also introduced. Many precision optical instruments, such as satellite cameras, planetarium systems, metallography mioroscopes, etc. have been designed with the help of SOD88. And now SOD88 is playing more and more important rules in today’s modernization of China.
