Practical Lens Design Using a Global Method

Abstract

We apply the Global Synthesis® (GS) optimization algorithm to a locally optimized, wide angle mapping lens patent (59 variables), and achieve twice the patent's as-built performance. Results are also given for the application of GS to the 1994 IODC lens design problem.
