Mobile Phone Camera Lens Design with Reduced Flare

Abstract

Flare due to total internal reflection (TIR) from optical surfaces in a mobile phone camera is analyzed. The image artifact caused by the flare is shown. An optimization method for lens design to reduce TIR flare is proposed and described.
