Passive Athermalization: Required Accuracy of the Thermo-Optical Coefficients

Abstract

Synopsys recently completed the design of an imaging system that was passively athermalized over a 200°C temperature range. The extent of the temperature range required careful selection of the materials. This caused us to examine the accuracy with which the dn/dT coefficients and the Coefficients of Thermal Expansion (CTEs) need to be known over the temperature range.
