On the Possibility of Real Time Transmission of Images in Multimode Fibers

Not Accessible

Abstract

Multimode dielectric waveguides cannot transmit pictorial information over substantial distances. The most fundamental reason for this failure is modal dispersion, i.e., the dependence of the propagation constant of the mode (m,n) on the transverse mode indices m,n.
