Linear and nonlinear control of polarization state using microring resonators

Abstract

Polarization conversion between linear, circular and elliptic light can be accomplished with an on-chip dielectric microring resonator. At high enough intensities, hysteresis makes the polarization of the transmitted light dependent on the past state of the resonator.
