Triple-core nonlinear couplers-amplification, switching, and chaos

Abstract

Triple-core nonlinear couplers display three characteristics that are not present with two cores. Ideal switching occurs by placing parasitic cores in parallel with the original twin-core structure. Amplification is possible at arbitrarily low pump power even for touching cores. Chaotic power splitting can be exhibited for arbitrary input polarization.
