Abstract

An all-fiber frequency shifter has been developed, based on acousto-optically induced intermodal coupling in a dual-mode fiber at 1.3 μm. We have incorporated several design variations on earlier device configurations1-3 which provide a more robust modulator with the potential for greater spurious signal suppression.
