Abstract

Traveling-wave laser amplifiers (TWA) with angled facets were demonstrated as a feasible approach to the fabrication of devices with extremely lowmodal effectivereflectivity.1,2 Further improvement of these devices requires simple design rules to correlate the waveguide parameters, tilt angle, and optimal coating conditions in order to achieve lowest reflectivity values for TE and TM modes with maximum tolerance in the fabrication.
