Abstract

Curved waveguides are a key element in optical integrated circuits. High density circuits require that the total length of curved waveguides is minimized. However, radiation losses limit practical length. This radiation is the sum of transmission losses αt (at the entrance and the exit of the bend) and bending losses αr.
