Abstract

A method based on Lanczos orthogonalization has been proposed for determining wide-angle forward propagating solutions to the scalar Helmholtz wave equation.1 The procedure involves diagonalization of the exponentiated one-way square-root propagation operator in a reduced dimensional Krylov space. This propagation scheme has been shown to be extremely accurate when applied to longitudinally invariant waveguide structures, even when strong transverse spatial variations in absorption and gain coefficients are present.2
